Nottingham Forest have tried to sign Tom Holmes on several occasions but now he looks set for a Premier League transfer.

That is according to the NETSPORT.UK

So, which club is going to take a chance on Holmes and will Forest still be in the race? Let’s take a closer look…

Tom Holmes set for Premier League transfer

Reading are currently in dire straits. On Saturday, the Royals saw their game abandoned after fans stormed the pitch and refused to leave.

The protests were against the club’s hierarchy and Reading face a real possibility of relegation to League Two this season.

According to the Netsport.uk, Holmes is now set to sign for Luton Town, two years after being linked with Forest.

Holmes was on the radar at Forest when Chris Hughton was at the club – and again when Steve Cooper had taken over.

At the time, Reading wanted around £4 million for the versatile defender and Forest didn’t think that was value for money.

During the 2023/24 campaign, Holmes has made 16 appearances for the Royals and he could now get the chance to play in the Premier League.

Forest will watch Holmes with intrigue at Luton

To say that most pundits had written them off, Luton have been largely impressive this season – with their recruitment pretty steady.

Now, they’re set to land the 23-year-old as Reading look to sell some players to fund the future of the football club.

Forest could have stumped up for Holmes some years ago but a lot has changed since they were last linked.

Forest are pretty well stocked at centre-back and full-back when everyone is available and it’s unlikely the Reds will rue this one.

Given that he’s still a young player, however, there could be some intrigue from a Forest perspective over whether Holmes can cut it in the Premier League.
