Brandon Khela has revealed he intentionally recreated Jude Bellingham’s iconic goal celebration after opening his account for Birmingham City in the exact spot it was born.

Five years ago the Real Madrid and England superstar netted his second goal for Blues, aged 16, and debuted his trademark celebration at The Valley. Khela scored a spectacular goal of his own on Tuesday night to hand Blues victory over Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup and there was a familiar look about his celebration.

The 19-year-old raced over to the 2,000 Bluenoses in the away end and stretched his arms out in the same way Bellingham did.

Khela said: “I played with him – not often because he’s a bit older than me – but I reenacted the celebration. It’s iconic. What a role model. I’m buzzing. I hit it sweet and I’m delighted to help the team.”
