Guimaraes, a crucial player for Eddie Howe since arriving at Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022, has made 67 appearances, scored 11 goals, and has now committed to the club through the 2028 season; On Sunday in the Premier League, Newcastle and Guimaraes take on West Ham.

Bruno Guimaraes has signed a new five-year contract with Newcastle United.

After aiding the squad in avoiding relegation in the second half of the 2021–2022 season and then playing a significant part in the team’s top-four finish and run to the Carabao Cup final the following season, the Brazil midfielder has won the hearts of the local fans in Tyneside.

However, there have been rumors about his future in the summer, with moves for the 25-year-old being linked to Manchester City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. With this contract continuing through 2028, it appears like St James’ Park will be his long-term home.

Guimaraes said:

“I’m absolutely delighted.

The fans have made me feel at home since my first day here and I feel so loved in my life.

“I love being here. It’s a place that I feel incredibly at home in, and I want to keep bringing joy to the fans and supporting the team’s success. There are no adequate words to express how delighted I am to be here, therefore that is my aim.

“I remember in my first interview, I said I wanted to play for this club in the Champions League and now it’s happening. We are doing so well and when I look around the pitch at my team-mates, I am so proud of them all. I’m proud of everyone; the team, the staff, the owners and the fans.

“The city believes again and it’s unbelievable what we have done for the team. I hope that this can continue. It’s amazing what has happened in my life in the last two years.”

Guimaraes was acquired by Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe in January 2022 after leaving Lyon. He said: “I’m thrilled to get Bruno signed and dedicated to the long-term future of the football club. He is such a crucial player and has excelled ever since he joined the team. I simply hope he can keep up his success with us since he has been such a great success since being here.

“I believe he personifies our recent achievement. He consistently puts up strong performances, he’s dependable, and he also has a terrific demeanor off the field.

He has a wonderful bond with our fans and cares profoundly about Newcastle United and the club’s success. He has been a crucial addition for us and is unquestionably the kind of signing we want to make.
