Midfield Mayhem: Aston Villa Faces Potential Loss of Another Key Midfielder!

Douglas Luiz close to Juventus transfer after new round of talks with Aston Villa

Aston Villa could be set to lose another key midfielder this summer if his quotes from Italy are anything to go by.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa had a superb campaign last season as the Spaniard guided the Villains to a fourth place finish and Champions League football.

However, despite the revenue increase that Villa are set to experience, the club are also wary of breaching PSR rules this summer.

Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is understood to be closing in on a move to Juventus with the Brazilian set to undergo his medical in Turin.

Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenchea are set to move to the Midlands club in a swap deal with Villa also set to receive around £25 million for the deal.

Villa midfielder lifts lid on potential summer exit

Things have not gone well in England for Italian midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo since he completed his move to Villa Park last summer for an initial loan, which contained an option to buy.

Injuries and inconsistent form has meant that Zaniolo has been on the periphery of things this season as he has started just nine games for the Villains in the Premier League.

Zaniolo moved to the Premier League side on loan from Galatasaray and he has made it clear a return to England is not his priority.

Speaking to Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, Zaniolo has lifted the lid on his future amid a potential return to Italy.

“I told my agent, Claudio Vigorelli, and Galatasaray know it too: I want to return to Serie A,” Zaniolo said. “A solution will be found, I’m optimistic.”

Villa have to move on and find different midfield target

For Villa, as they prepare for life in the UEFA Champions League under a manager who guided Villarreal to the semi-final of the competition, they have to explore the market for a midfielder.

HITC has reported that one midfielder they like is Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and the Blues would be open to selling the Englishman if they receive a good fee.

For Zaniolo, a move to Villa never worked out for a multitude of reasons and it appears he will now be returning to his parent club Galatasaray.
