Michail Antonio says his verdict over spurs and reds clash
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to lock horns in the Premier League on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils will host Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs at Old Trafford in a 4:30pm kickoff
With just five Premier League fixtures this weekend due to the staggered winter break, this one is arguably the pick of the bunch.
West Ham forward and BBC Sport podcaster Michail Antonio has given his verdict as to who he thinks will win at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“I’m going to go 1-0 Man United,” he said on the Footballer’s Football podcast.
Struggling Manchester United up against revitalised Tottenham Hotspur
Both Man United and Tottenham will be hoping to build on their winning starts to 2024 and progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Red Devils ran out 2-0 winners at Wigan Athletic on Monday, while Spurs saw off Burnley 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday.
Man United will be hoping for their win at Wigan to act as a springboard in the Premier League. They’ve have won just one of their last five in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Spurs have largely got back on track after their downturn in form in November and early December. They’ve now won four of their last five in the league.
It’s a hard game to call. While Antonio has gone for a Man United win, regular Premier League predictors Paul Merson and Chris Sutton have gone for a draw and a Spurs win respectively.
Man United have won 24 of their 31 Premier League meetings with Spurs at Old Trafford, drawing three and losing four (BBC Sport).
However, all four of Tottenham’s victories came in their 11 most recent visits to Man United, and a revitalised Spurs doing well under Postecoglou will certainly fancy their chances against one of the weakest Red Devils sides in recent years.
