McElhenney Sends Warning to Brady Ahead of Match
Rob McElhenney has sent a five-word warning to NFL legend Tom Brady ahead of Wrexham’s trip to Birmingham City.
The two sides meet in League One at St Andrew’s on Monday 16 September, with the clash shown to be shown live on Sky Sports.
A few months back there was some talk about discussions surrounding the third tier fixture taking place across the pond such is the American interest in the game.
McElhenney and Deadpool star Reynolds bought Wrexham in 2020 and have seen back-to-back promotions, while seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady owns 3.3 per cent of Birmingham and has no voting rights.
They were relegated to the third division last season but have splashed out a record £25 million on transfers in a bid to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Wrexham are also well on the up and sit top of the league with 13 points from five games.
Birmingham are also unbeaten in fourth, having played a game less to due their most recent fixture being postponed because of the international break.
A first meeting since 2006 promises to be an entertaining one and after Wrexham’s win over Shrewsbury on Saturday, McElhenney sent a message to Brady.
He wrote: “See you next Monday @TomBrady 😉 Should be an absolute banger @BCFC @Wrexham_AFC.”
Brady, who is wearing his Birmingham shirt in his profile picture on X, is yet to reply.
Wrexham will be in action before then as they host Salford City, co-owned by members of Manchester United’s ‘Class of 92’, in the Football League trophy on Tuesday.
Since 2022/23, the Red Dragons have took more points than any other club in the top five leagues.
And in acknowledging the impressive stat, McElhenney hailed manager Phil Parkinson.
