Mathieu Van der Poel’s girlfriend Roxanne Bertels shares lovely videos and photos of how the Dutch rider took the beautiful lead on the Cipressa ahead of Tadej Pogacar and Filippo Ganna

Mathieu van der Poel won Milan-Sanremo in spectacular fashion on Saturday. The Dutch rider took the lead on the Cipressa ahead of Tadej Pogacar and Filippo Ganna, finishing in style 25 kilometres later in Sanremo. His girlfriend, Roxanne Bertels, was present to witness it, though it caused her some anxiety.

Bertels’ Instagram account features videos and photographs from her day in Sanremo. We see Mathieu fall into her arms after his winning lap, and they rejoice together. There are some behind-the-scenes images, as well as a lovely shot with Corinne Poulidor, her mother-in-law.

But also a fragment of her Whoop data, which shows that she had elevated stress levels for 19 minutes starting at 10:50 AM EST. Coincidence? Certainly not, because that happens to be the timeframe of the finish of Milan-Sanremo.
