Manchester United Player Ratings as Kobbie Mainoo Good vs Everton

Published

on

Alejandro Garnacho scored an amazing goal that helped Manchester United win against Everton. He scored a fantastic overhead kick in the third minute, and Everton’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, couldn’t stop it. This goal surprised the Everton fans, especially since they were loudly protesting against the Premier League for taking away 10 points from their team due to some financial issues.

Kobbie Mainoo, who also came from Manchester United’s youth academy, played really well in his first big game in the Premier League. He was only 18 years old but played confidently, and even stopped a goal in the first half. Later, Marcus Rashford scored a goal from a penalty after Ashley Young committed a foul on Anthony Martial. The match was finally sealed with a great goal from Martial, who has a history of scoring against Everton.

Our chief United writer Samuel Luckhurst was in the press box to cover the game and here are his player ratings from the match.

Andre Onana

Made a decent stop from Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the first half and Idrissa Gueye in the second half to keep another clean sheet. 7

Diogo Dalot

A decent cross became an assist through Alejandro Garnacho’s wondrous volley and produced his best defensive performance all year. 7

Victor Lindelof

Started steadily until Calvert-Lewin started pulling onto him but United’s goal early in the second half deflated Everton. 7

Harry Maguire

Dominant against Calvert-Lewin, who had to try his luck against Lindelof, and serenaded by the United fans on another good day for their former captain. 8

Luke Shaw

Made a huge difference to the balance of the defence and provided some dynamism in attack. A bonus he completed more than 70 minutes. 8

Scott McTominay

Busy without having a notable impact other than conceding the odd foul that irked the crowd. Calmer after United went 2-0 up. 6

Kobbie Mainoo

Composed and confident from the off and his willingness to drop back into his own third to get the ball was needed when he cleared off the line. Man of the match. 8

Marcus Rashford

No different to his club form all season in the first half. Some selfish dribbles ended with hopeless charges into cul-de-sacs. Gifted a penalty and struck it flawlessly to salvage his afternoon. 6

Bruno Fernandes

Very quiet in the first half as United essentially failed to create a chance but, true to form, contributed to the second and third goals. 7

Alejandro Garnacho

His overhead kick is the goal of the season so far. A technical marvel of a goal that silenced Goodison Park. 8

Anthony Martial

On the fringes on his first start in the Premier League since September 3. Won the penalty that was retrospectively and rightly awarded and scored his ninth goal in 17 games against his patsies. 7

Subs

Facundo Pellistri

Contributed to the third goal. 7

Sofyan Amrabat

Steady cameo. 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

More minutes. 6

Hannibal

Late cameo. 6

Manager

The bold selection of Mainoo paid off and United are a better team with him in it. Putting Shaw straight back into the side was massively beneficial. 8
