Manchester United academy graduate Brandon Williams has joined Championship side Ipswich Town on a season-long loan deal.

The left-back has played just five competitive minutes under Erik ten Hag and featured in only two of United’s eight pre-season friendlies this summer.

Williams has made a total of 51 senior appearances for his boyhood club, with all but one of them coming under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The defender, who initially left United in 2015, was taken on the tour of the US by Erik ten Hag after training at Carrington following his release from Leicester this summer.

The manager is said to be impressed by his performances in pre-season and wishes to keep him on board for the year, potentially pushing Harry Maguire further down the pecking order.
