Nottingham Forest
magic’ 25-year-old who was rejected is now in demand
Renan Lodi is now a transfer target for Brentford after Nottingham Forest failed to sign him in the summer.
That is according to Netsport.uk.
So, what exactly is going on with Lodi and could Forest make a move for him? Let’s take a closer look…
Renan Lodi wanted by Brentford
Well, this is quite the turn-up for the books, with Brentford now keen to sign the player who Forest couldn’t prise back to the City Ground.
Lodi signed for Marseille in the summer, citing a desire to play Champions League football, instead of signing for Forest permanently.
That decision looked somewhat intriguing when just weeks after he joined the Ligue 1 outfit they were dumped out of the competition by Panathinaikos.
Now, according to netsport.uk, Brentford are preparing to lodge a bid for the services of Lodi.
However, it’s believed that Marseille aren’t prepared to wash their hands of the Brazilian just yet – with the player penning a contract until 2028.
Could Forest pounce for Lodi this month?
It looks highly unlikely at this stage, although perhaps there is a situation where another left-back could be required.
Nuno Tavares has been linked with a move back to Arsenal with the player struggling for game time during his loan spell.
That would leave Harry Toffolo as the only natural left-back, with the other option Ola Aina away at the African Cup of Nations.
Lodi was a quality player for Forest last season. Brian Laws called him ‘magic’ after a 2-0 win over Tottenham and he grew as the campaign went on.
The Bees are going to try and sign Lodi on loan with an obligatory purchase option.
That sort of deal could well suit Forest for Lodi but it could be that Nuno Espirito Santo has other positions that are in more urgent need of strengthening this month.
