Leicester City vs Birmingham City Journey To Championship Revals
Birmingham City travel to the King Power Arena to face their Championship rivals Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Blues overcame Hull City after a third-round replay earlier this month and as a reward will play the current league leaders. Leicester overcame Millwall thanks to goals from Cesar Casadei, Ricardo Pereira and Tom Cannon.
Leicester have had less recovery time than Birmingham albeit two days. Enzo Maresca’s side had a top-of-the-table clash with Ipswich Town on Monday and drew 1-1 with the Tractor Boys with former West Brom loanee Jeremy Sarmiento rescuing a point for Ipswich.
Birmingham City do not hold the best record against Leicester and you have to go back to October 16, 2011 for their last win against them and that ws at home. Birmingham’s last win away at Leicester came in April 2007 with Radhi Jaidi and Sebastian Larsson on target for Steve Bruce’s side that day.
Blues have reasons to be optimistic though as Tony Mowbray is yet to taste defeat since succeeding Wayne Rooney earlier this month. He is still getting to grips to life at St Andrew’s and this match can act as an opportunity to see more of the players that have yet to play much under him so far as he considers making some changes.
The Africa Cup of Nations and the Asia Cup has reached the knockout stage now, but there are still some players away on international duty. Injuries and suspensions also play a part in the unavailability of players this weekend and so without further ado, here’s the latest injury and team news from both camps.
