Lawrence Shankland update emerges today as last Rangers puzzle piece drops

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland could be the “last piece of Rangers’ puzzle” ahead of the February 1 deadline tomorrow, according to The 4th Official.

The online source reported via Patreon [31 January] that Hearts can offer as many new contracts as they like but Shankland knows that his best chance of winning trophies is at Ibrox.

The 28-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of next season, and Hearts could risk losing him on a free transfer rather than receiving a fee.

Final piece of the puzzle

Despite Cyriel Dessers’ recent upturn in goalscoring form and the loan arrival of Fabio Silva from Wolves, Philippe Clement is still calling out for a poacher to complete his team.

Injuries have also hindered the Belgian, with Kemar Roofe, Danilo and Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima all suffering spells on the sidelines.

The Gers’ highest goalscorer this season, once again, is right-back James Tavernier, with Sima following shortly behind.

Rangers have failed to find a concrete goalscorer since Alfredo Morelos’ form dried up and he moved on to Santos on a free transfer. So, a move to Ibrox would make sense for both parties, with the promise of fighting for the Scottish Premiership title and Europa League trophy.

With 47 goals in 77 appearances for Hearts, Shankland is the ideal transfer move before the window closes on 1 February. Hearts would be silly not to sell their star player on for a decent fee rather than wait until his contract runs out in the summer of 2025.
