LATEST: Everton Is Disappointed After The Collapsed Deal Of A Young Star

on

Everton are reportedly set to miss out on a top transfer target to another Premier League despite reaching an agreement.

The Toffees have been productive this summer in their transfer dealings with the arrivals of Iliman Ndiaye from Olympique Marseille and Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa, with Lewis Dobbin heading to Villa Park as Ben Godfrey was sold to Atalanta.

With Jake O’Brien also reportedly in Sean Dyche’s sights, the Merseyside club could be set for one of their busiest summers in time, with Everton eager to build a squad that can stay clear of relegation heading into the new season.

Yet it appears that one target won’t be heading to Goodison Park this summer.

Jaden Philogene set to snub Everton for £18m Ipswich Town move

Jaden Philogene-Bidace of Hull City looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Hull City and Middlesbrough at MKM Stadium on April 10, ...

According to the Athletic, Hull City winger Jaden Philogene is set to snub a move to Everton for a switch to newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town, with a five-year contract already agreed between the two parties.

Reports this week had suggested that Everton had also reached an agreement to sign Philogene, with the 22-year-old attacker impressing in the Championship last season for the Tigers, attracting surprise rumoured interest from the likes of FC Barcelona.

However, it’s now Ipswich who seem to have finally won the race for Philogene, with the Tractor Boys beating Everton to the former Villa academy star’s signature in what could be an outstanding move for Kieran McKenna’s side.

Lauded as a ‘dynamic’ attacker by former Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill, Philogene last year proved at Hull that he’s ready to make the step up into the Premier League, and Everton will be frustrated that they’ve missed out on the youngster.

Everton need to return to the drawing board after latest transfer misstep

Everton are no strangers to missing out on transfer targets to rival teams, and missing out on Philogene will now see Dyche and his team return to the drawing board to look for their next wide-attacking target.

With the Toffees ready to spend a decent amount on a new forward option, optimism should be high amongst Everton fans that a new target can be identified heading into pre-season later this month.

And whilst Philogene would have ticked a lot of boxes for Everton, supporters should remain hopeful that the Goodison Park side can find a suitable alternative for the Hull star, who now looks set for an interesting move to Ipswich.
