LATEST: Connor Goldson With Rangers Squad For Birmingham Friendly After Aris Limassol Medical Claims

Connor Goldson is set to take part in Rangers’ friendly against Birmingham City despite talk his exit was imminent.

The centre-back was spotted boarding a plane with his teammates as Gers headed south for their penultimate pre-season game which takes place tomorrow night. He will therefore be expected to play some part in the clash in the Midlands after coming on as a sub against Manchester United.

It comes despite claims the 31-year-old had flown out to Cyprus to have a medical ahead of a transfer to Aris Limassol, the Light Blues’ Euro rivals from last season. It was rumoured he was on the verge of completing the move but this latest development would certainly pour cold water on that.

Aris’ press officer was quizzed on interest in Goldson and despite not being forthcoming with any names, did speak on their search for a centre-back. He said: “We are close to a new signing. Things are not so easy as it involves several moving parts. We are doing our best to conclude a deal. We will not divulge any names.”
