LATEST: “Blues Eye Hull City’s Sensation Ryan Longman!”
There has been reports earlier today from Daniel Marsh that Blues have entered the race with Wrexham and Milwall for Hull winger Ryan Longman.
Player Profile- Ryan Longman
Ryan Longman is a 23 year old modern-day left-winger who likes to cut inside on his right foot and get shots away. Longman was on loan at Milwall from Hull City last season and delivered when given the opportunity of consistent starts.
Longman contributed 6 times for Milwall last season but struggled for consistent places in the starting 11, similar to his previous season at Hull. The winger demonstrated his potential in the final 7 games of last season, starting 6 of them and contributing 4 times, including a stunning, match-winning goal against Championship title-winners Leicester City.
The Englishman would provide versatility to any attack as he can play across the forward line, this would provide good squad-depth and cover for Blues if they were to sign him.
Competition
As previously mentioned, Blues would have competition if they wanted to sign Ryan Longman, with Wrexham interested and a return to The Den with Milwall is also on the cards. It would be interesting to see if Blues would be able to attract Longman instead of him making the switch to Milwall, who he has previous experience with and play Championship football.
Final Thoughts
I think that Longman would be a positive addition to the forward line of Birmingham City, however, I am unsure if they would be able to promise him consistent starts in League 1 with both Siriki Dembele and Keshi Anderson at the club presently. I get the feeling that Longman is a confidence player, trust and patience from Chris Davies would benefit his performance if he did join the club. Overall, I think he would be a good signing for Blues as he is young with potential and I have seen moments of quality when given the chance in the starting 11 for both Hull City and Milwall.
