Lakers Detail How They Upset Celtics In Boston
Your Los Angeles Lakers earned one of the biggest upset games in recent memory on Thursday evening, taking down the league-leading Boston Celtics by a score of 114-105. The biggest part of this win over their longtime rival was that neither LeBron James nor Anthony Davis played in the game. Both missed due to injury, but the rest of the team stepped up in a massive way. It was a balanced scoring outing for the team, showcasing the talent across the roster. In what has been a tough season for Los Angeles, this was one of the few bright spots.
Lakers shooting guard Austin Reaves led the way, dropping 32 points on Boston. He was special all night and helped Los Angeles win the upset. Reaves spoke after the game and unpacked how the Lakers were able to steal this game despite missing both of their star players. “Any time you don’t have those two it’s going to have to be a team effort, you’re going to have to come together and just grind,” Reaves said. “We’re all talented players and this is an opportunity to show the world what you can do.
Without the two leaders of the team, the other players all collectively did their part to win the game. Reaves took on the role of the “go-to” player and showcased his skill set on a national stage. He hit seven three-pointers in the game and made the normally tough Celtics defense look weak. Alongside him was point guard D’Angelo Russell who scored 16, and center Jaxson Hayes scored 16 as well.
This was the best win of the season for the Lakers, and they now return back to a .500 record. The hope is that they can build off this win when the stars come back, and maybe this helps them turn the season around.
