Kelvin Wilson Speech about striker Taiwo Awoniyi step by step to follow
Kelvin Wilson believes Nottingham Forest are desperate for Taiwo Awoniyi to step up and start scoring regular goals once again this season.
So, what has Wilson said about Awoniyi ahead of Forest facing Luton at the weekend? Let’s take a closer look…
What Kelvin Wilson has said Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi
Well, it would appear as though the man who played for Forest, Preston and Celtic during his career wants the striker to get firing again for the Reds again.
It’s been a tough season for Awoiyi this season, with Forest losing him for around three months after a groin operation.
His last goal came against West Ham during a 2-0 victory over West Ham and Forest would dearly love to see Awoniyi return to his goalscoring best between now and the end of the season.
Wilson told the Forest Focus podcast: “Have we got time to be patient? Time is running out but we need him to start firing now. I know he’s been injured but the pressure is on and we need him to perform.
“Ideally, we’d be mid-table and we could keep bringing him on for the last 20 minutes to get his fitness up. We don’t have the luxury to give him time, we need him to be scoring goals.”
Awoniyi will come good before the season finishes
The Reds desperately need the 26-year-old to get firing between now and the end of the season.
Forest need a run of wins from somewhere and in order to do that, they will need Awoniyi to be the man that is firing.
On Sunday, Nuno Espirito Santo started Chris Wood in attack and that perhaps suggests that Awoniyi isn’t fully fit just yet.
That is a worry and it was equally bizarre that Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga were also left out of proceedings.
Wilson is spot on with this latest assessment and Forest really need Awoniyi to find some form if they’re to remain in the Premier League next season.
