JUST IN: Birmingham City To Seal A Historical “Brazilian Star Deal” And Other EFL Worth £2M Amidst Premier League Promotion And

Three League One stars Birmingham City could sign on their way to the Championship

Birmingham City are storming their way to the League One title and attention (amongst supporters at least) is starting to turn to the summer transfer window.

Who is Championship ready and who isn’t and which positions need strengthening?

Blues’ season in League One has allowed them to see a new group of players up close and a few of their opponents have impressed.

In a recent Keep Right On Podcast, Brian Dick (BD) and Alex Dicken (AD) picked out a few players who have impressed them in League One this season.

BD: “It’s a very recent one: Jordi Osei-Tutu, the winger from Bolton who gave Blues a very difficult night recently. He made Taylor Gardner-Hickman look like a midfield player playing at right-back a couple of times. He was direct, he was quick, he was good on the ball.

“And another one would be the Wrexham centre-back Max Cleworth. I suspect he might leapfrog the Championship. If Wrexham don’t go up, I wonder whether he might be on a similar trajectory to James Hill (Bournemouth) or Eiran Cashin – a centre-back who has gone straight into the Premier League, maybe not with a view of starting games, but someone who is clearly a level above. Those would be my two.”

AD: “I really like Ethan Galbraith of Leyton Orient. I was impressed with him when Blues played at Leyton Orient back in August. He was playing in midfield that day and scored their goal, but he’s played at right-back for part of the season as well.

“They rejected a good offer from Swansea for him in January so you would presume he’s going to move in the summer. He can play in midfield, or number 10, and he’s shown he can play wide as well.

“He would fit into the way that Blues play in terms of being possession-based and comfortable on the ball. I’m sure he’s going to be in the Championship next season and maybe Blues could take him on their journey.”
