JUST IN: Another Good News “Spark” Bolton Wanderers After Huge Match Victory, And The Boss Has…

Bolton Wanderers boss Schumacher up for Manager of the Month

The Whites won three of their four league matches, with their only defeat coming at Reading less than 48 hours after Schumacher was confirmed as the new head coach at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

There were victories against Crawley, Shrewsbury and Leyton Orient as Bolton built momentum in the play-off race.

The month started at Reading as Harvey Knibbs struck a late penalty. Aaron Collins had gone close to breaking the deadlock at the other end.

Schumacher’s first victory came in a seven-goal thriller against Crawley as Wanderers battled back from 3-1 down to secure all three points.

Jordi Osei-Tutu, Alex Murphy and Josh Sheehan got on the scoresheet before Gethin Jones’ cross-shot went in off a defender in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

Bolton came from behind again to win at Shrewsbury the following weekend. John McAtee bagged a brace and Eoin Toal also struck during an impressive second-half display at Croud Meadow.

The month concluded with a big three points against play-off rivals Leyton Orient, and it was another second-half comeback for Schumacher’s men. McAtee struck again and Aaron Morley kept his cool from the penalty spot.

The Wanderers boss now faces competition from Stockport boss Dave Challinor, Birmingham chief Chris Davies and Charlton gaffer Nathan Jones.

Stockport picked up 10 points from five league games last month, including wins against Leyton Orient, Barnsley and Wigan.

Birmingham won four of their five league games in February and went unbeaten to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Charlton racked up three victories last month to get back into the play-off places. The Addicks’ only defeat came against Birmingham at St Andrew’s.

The judging panel features former Barnsley boss Danny Wilson and ex-Wolves striker Don Goodman. The winner will be announced on Friday.

The Player of the Month shortlist has also been confirmed but no Bolton players were included on this occasion.

Blackpool’s Niall Ennis, Reading’s Amadou Mbengue, Wrexham’s Ollie Rathbone and Birmingham’s Jay Stansfield are all in the running.
