Journalist: Rangers star could leave Ibrox in ‘Big Money’ PL move
There will be “big fears” at Rangers that Premier League clubs will be looking to sign Todd Cantwell in the summer transfer window, according to Dean Jones.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Sunday (25 February), the former Eurosport journalist said he would be “surprised” if the 25-year-old were to leave the Gers at the end of the season as he seems to be “loving life” at Ibrox.
But he added that it’s “not out of the question” that Premier League clubs could decide to put some “big money” on the table to sign the English attacking midfielder after how well he’s been playing.
“I think Cantwell, he seems to be anyway, loving life at Rangers,” said Jones. “I would be surprised if he left the club in the summer.
“But obviously, one of Rangers’ big fears will be that Premier League clubs are looking at his situation and decide to put some big money on the table. It’s certainly not out of the question, given how well he’s been playing at times.”
Todd Cantwell unlikely to leave Rangers
It seems unlikely that Cantwell would decide to leave Rangers as he’s playing regular football and looks to be enjoying his time at the club.
While he may have aspirations of moving back to England at some stage, he probably wouldn’t be able to join a club as big as the Gers at this moment in time.
It’s probably in his best interests to keep putting in strong performances under the guidance of Philippe Clement and letting the future take care of itself.
After a mixed bag of performances in the first half of the season, the attacking midfielder has hit form recently before he was struck down by injury.
The Light Blues fans will be hoping he returns to the fold as soon as possible to help them in their SPL title push and that he will continue playing at Ibrox for some time to come.
