Ex-Birmingham City manager John Eustace is reportedly targeting a reunion with Jay Stansfield at Blackburn Rovers.

Stansfield is in-demand after his stellar loan spell at St Andrew’s last season where he scored 13 goals in 47 appearances. Blues have tried to persuade Fulham to sell Stansfield but Cottagers boss Marco Silva seems determined to keep the 21-year-old as part of his squad.

Silva gave Stansfield a brief cameo off the bench in Fulham’s opening day defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League. Blues have been forced to extend their search for a new centre-forward as a result.

But Championship clubs haven’t been deterred in the chase for Stansfield. Cardiff City, Hull City, Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers have been linked with loan moves for Stansfield and Blackburn Rovers have apparently joined the queue.
