Jamie Vardy might return for Leicester City against the Blues

Leicester City could have a major attacking boost ahead of their top-of-the-table clash with Ipswich Town next week.

While the Foxes will be missing boss Enzo Maresca and a host of key players, club legend Jamie Vardy could well be fit to face the Blues.

The rapid 37-year-old striker hasn’t featured for the Foxes since their 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on November 29, a knee injury keeping him sidelined for a considerable period.

However Vardy, who has bagged seven goals in 19 games this season, has returned to training this week as Leicester prepare to host Town on Monday night (8pm).

Boss Maresca said last week that Vardy “is better” and had started to train with the group.

Vardy then wrote on Instagram on Sunday: “Good to be back in training with the lads.”

While Vardy’s return would be a big boost for the Foxes, they will still be depleted for the King Power Stadium clash.

Maresca will be banned from the touchline after hitting his booking threshold in last week’s upset 3-1 defeat at Coventry, while winger Abdul Fatawu – a key man for the Foxes – was handed a straight red card in that game and will also be banned.

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, the heart of Leicester’s engine room, could be out injured until April, while other stars are away on international duty,

Strikers Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho are both at the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning Tom Cannon was Leicester’s only fit recognised striker available last weekend.

Meanwhile big defender Harry Souttar is away with Australia at the Asian Cup, where he’s a team-mate of Ipswich Town star and fellow centre-back Cameron Burgess.
