James Maddison, a former star of Leicester City, makes a shocking remark about Tottenham.

James Maddison has admitted that he was in ‘shock’ during Tottenham’s late comeback against Leicester City.

Two years ago, on January 19 2022, City looked to be on course for a 2-1 win over Tottenham at the King Power Stadium. Goals from Patson Daka and Harry Kane meant the score was level at half time.

But Maddison looked to have earned all three points for City with a 76th-minute goal to give them a 2-1 lead. That is how the scoreline stayed until the 95th minute when Spurs substitute Steven Bergwijn scored a leveler but things got worse for City two minutes later when the same player found the net again to snatch all three points for Tottenham.

It was a few minutes to forget for anyone associated with Leicester, but Spurs have put a reminder on social media. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Tottenham have shared clips of the two Tottenham goals alongside a caption that reads: “We’re 2-1 down in the 95th minute… Step forward @StevenBergwijn.”

That post has prompted a response from now-Tottenham man Maddison, who posted rolling eyes, crying and laughing emojis. In response to a City fans saying that the game still gives him nightmares, Maddison replied with “Don’t worry, I’m the same, was in shock” along with a crying emoji.

City were able to get somewhat of a revenge on Tottenham the following season. City came out as 4-1 winners over Spurs in last season’s Premier League clash despite their fight against relegation.
