Injury Concerns for Tottenham Target

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Monaco defender Vanderson this summer.

Who is Tottenham-linked Vanderson? Age, Position, Stats & More

Meanwhile, injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar believes that Vanderson is unlikely to encounter any issues passing his medical examination with Tottenham.

The North London club have done some incredible transfer business in the ongoing window. While they have been quite selective about the transfers, Tottenham have been able to tick most of the boxes. They have brought in a world-class striker in Dominic Solanke and have added a few young stars who will help them in the short as well as the long run.

Spurs are now looking to bring in Vanderson from AS Monaco before the end of the window to further strengthen their backline. While his knee and hip injuries from last season have resulted in doubts about his fitness, Dr. Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist feels the 23-year-old is unlikely to have any issues clearing the Tottenham medical if they manage to strike a deal with the French club.

While speaking to Tottenham News, Dr Brar said: “He had knee and hip injuries last season and looks like they were moderate injuries based on the time out, which was over 30 days for each.

“The good news is that they were at very different times of the season so likely not knock-on effects.

“Wouldn’t expect any red flags in his medical unless there is some outlier occurring.“

Following the departure of Emerson Royal to AC Milan, the North London club are a bit light on the right flank and the arrival of Vanderson will add depth as well as more quality to their squad. Not only will he provide competition to Pedro Porro for a place in the starting XI, but his arrival will give Ange Postecoglou more tactical options thanks to his versatility.

Dr. Brar notes that the knee and hip injuries the Brazilian international endured last season appear to have been moderate in severity. Both injuries occurred at different times during the campaign, suggesting they were isolated incidents rather than knock-on effects. As a result, he feels Vanderson is unlikely to have any problems clearing the Spurs medical with the club gearing up to submit a £25.4 million bid for his services.
