‘In for a good game’ – Bournemouth vs Leicester City prediction

The Cherries, in their second season since promotion from the Championship, lost 1-0 due to Phil Foden’s first-half strike. Andoni Iraola’s men are having a fantastic campaign, however, and look set to secure top flight safety once more.

Leicester City, on the other hand, still sit top of the Championship table, although they did lose their second consecutive game on Friday night after falling to a 3-1 defeat against Leeds United at Elland Road.

The Foxes went ahead through Wout Faes early on, but a second-half surge saw Leeds take the spoils after Connor Roberts, Archie Gray and Patrick Bamford found the back of the net.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Jacob Hackett

“This should be a brilliant test for Leicester who are eyeing an instant return to the Premier League, currently sitting six points clear at the top of the Championship, despite losses in their last two.

“Bournemouth are the top flight side in this clash, however, so are definitely the favourites heading into this fifth round tie at the Vitality Stadium.

“The Cherries have enjoyed a good season so far, fuelled by Dominic Solanke’s best Premier League return to date, and will feel confident of getting the job done against Enzo Maresca’s side.

“I think this is bound to be an entertaining battle, but that it will ultimately be Iraola’s men that progress to the next round.”

Bournemouth vs Leicester City prediction: 3-1

James Ray

“I think we’re in for a good game here. Leicester City have had some tough results of late but progressing here against Premier League opposition would certainly calm nerves and increase hope of success should they return to the top-flight next season.

“However, I do think the gap between the first and second tiers is getting wider and wider. Bournemouth boast some really talented players in their ranks and in Iraola, they have a manager who can really help them kick on.

“I can see the Cherries having the upper hand in this one. I’ll back them to win 2-1.”

Bournemouth vs Leicester City prediction: 2-1
