Ibrox Exclusive: Rangers could be forced to accept Tavernier offer from PiF-owned club
Rangers could be powerless to resist if the right offer comes in for captain James Tavernier this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 March) that the Ibrox club are reluctant to sell Tavernier, 32, amid reported interest from Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
It has been claimed that Al-Ettifaq and other PiF-owned clubs are interested ahead of the summer window.
Rangers are not ready to allow Tavernier to leave the club as they feel he is key to their chances of competing in the Champions League next season.
However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that “money talks” and if the right offer arrives, the Glasgow giants could be forced to consider.

It is believed the priority for Tavernier remains with Rangers, but any offer from the Middle East is likely to be lucrative.
The Englishman is under contract until May 2026 and will thus command a huge fee.
Al-Ettifaq, who have been linked with the full-back, are managed by former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and ex-Gers director of football Mark Allen is also employed at the club.
Tavernier has managed 21 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2023-24 campaign.
The full-back joined the Ibrox club in 2015 and was appointed club captain by Gerrard in July 2018.
