I Am Not Doing Comparison But To Be Sincere The Money Is “Huge!” Brownwich Boss Revealed…
West Brom’s stunning £48m squad transfer value compared to Leeds United, Sunderland and Championship rivals
The total squad transfer value for West Bromwich Albion is telling when compared to the other 23 teams in the Championship.
West Brom have made a mixed start to the new Championship season under Carlos Corberan, kicking off with five wins in their opening six fixtures but recently drawing most of their outings and struggling to score goals.
There were concerns at the start of the summer transfer window that the Baggies wouldn’t be able to repeat last campaign’s play-off finish, as regular starters Cedric Kipre, Okay Yokuslu and Conor Townsend all departed The Hawthorns. Those worries have since been eased, however, with Albion completing some astute transfer business to source replacements.
Corberan’s squad is not necessarily better than last term but the results – so far at least – have perhaps implied a slightly greater chance of promotion to the Premier League this time around. There are still 31 matches to go of course, but the initial signs promising based on the fact Albion have lost just twice.
What makes West Brom’s start so impressive is the fact their total squad market value is actually significantly lower than their fellow promotion hopefuls. The three teams relegated from the Premier League – Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United – all have huge head-starts, while teams of a similar stature are also of an advantage.
