Hugo Bueno to Celtic: Brendan Rodgers responds to rumours
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers responds to rumours surrounding Wolves star Hugo Bueno
Brendan Rodgers has responded to rumours that have strongly linked Wolves full-back Hugo Bueno to Celtic.
Despite the hectic start to Wolves’ transfer window, activity has died down in recent weeks.
The club have brought in three players so far this summer with Jorgen Strand Larsen being the most eye-catching signing so far.
Max Kilman has been the only other major departure despite many of the stars in Wolves’ squad being strongly linked away throughout the window.
However, one player who has recently been linked away is Hugo Bueno with Celtic aiming to secure a loan move.
Brendan Rodgers gives nothing away regarding Celtic’s interest in Wolves’ Hugo Bueno
Hugo Bueno was slightly unlucky in the 2023/24 campaign. Despite showing plenty of promise in his previous debut season, he was unable get a consistent run in the starting XI.
Rayan Ait-Nouri’s form did not help the situation, with the Algerian having his best season in Old Gold.
With regular football obviously important for the 21-year-old’s development, a loan move has been suggested for the Spaniard.
Celtic have been strongly linked to the full-back with a loan proposed for the upcoming campaign.
When asked about the situation, Celtic boss Rodgers did not give anything away. He said: “I obviously know him from his time playing in the Premier League, but nothing more than that [to say].”
Journalist Ben Jacobs also stated that no move is imminent for Hugo Bueno with Wolves currently deciding if they want to let him go. There is no rush from Gary O’Neil’s side to make the decision.

A loan move to Celtic could do wonders for Hugo Bueno
Unless Ait-Nouri is sold this summer, it is unlikely that he gets regular first-team football this season. A loan move to Celtic could therefore do wonders for the Spaniard.
The full-back would be playing in the Champions League and would likely add a major trophy to his collection through Celtic’s domestic dominance.
Wolves should certainly consider Celtic’s offer, the only issue could be who cover Ait-Nouri if he is injured or suspended. However, Matt Doherty has proved countless times that he can cover this position if need be.
