Hopes for Rangers as £6m boost in Training clips Emerges
Rangers striker Danilo has posted a video of himself lifting weights as he steps up his recovery from a devastating knee injury.
The Brazilian hitman has had his first season in Scottish football devastated by injury after sustaining a facial fracture against St Johnstone earlier in the season.
Signing a reported £6m deal to join Rangers from Feyenoord, the striker would then go on to show some flashes of the quality that convinced the Ibrox side to move.
But after breaking down early on in a clash with December, the prognosis of a devastating knee injury appeared to all but end Danilo’s season.
Danilo uploads injury recovery clip
Now, the striker has continued to upload a series of clips in his recovery with the latest video a substantial step forward for the 24-year-old.
Bending his knee to lift some weights in the gym, it’s clear Danilo is determined to overcome the problem and you’ll forgive Rangers fans for seeing the positives in the brief clip.
The forward line of Rangers has been the subject of much debate heading into the second half of the season, with injuries to Danilo and Kemar Roofe leaving the club short up top.
It’s led to some fears surrounding the January transfer window after Rangers opted not to move for another striker, leaving Cyriel Dessers and Fabio Silva the club’s main two forward options.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been relaxed about the situation, previously hinting that Roofe could return before too long.
The coach too has previously suggested Danilo could be out for the season, save for the final weeks.
Rangers manager insists everyone will play part
All things considered, the manager’s latest comments about players who only play a small part in the campaign are certainly interesting with regards Danilo.
The Rangers manager hasn’t been shy in making changes to his squad on a game-by-game basis and he insists that everyone has a role to play this season.
But even then, every single player in the squad needs to be ready because it is fine margins and important contributions which could be the difference in the title race.
“I have the confidence otherwise I would not do the changes and I know it’s the only way to be ready for all the challenges that we face,” said Clement.
“So I think it’s around 14 weeks still to go and if our season is exceptional it will be 24 games in that period plus maybe two international games for the internationals also so it will be almost every two days a game so we need everybody ready.
“And it’s crucial to win things, sometimes it’s a player who didn’t play all season and he’s just five minutes on the pitch can make a difference by winning a trophy or not. We’re preparing everybody to be ready for the story so that’s why you need to make changes also.”
Danilo has made 21 appearances for Rangers since joining from Feyenoord, scoring six goals and laying on five assists.
