Fourth edition of #VfLinBruneck, the blue and whites are back in South Tyrol. On Sunday morning, the entourage set off for the airport. It was a short journey, because the plane with the number 1848 took off from the black and yellow neighboring town. In a total of ten units, as well as a test match and a blitz tournament, Peter Zeidler’s eleven will now spend a week preparing for the upcoming Bundesliga season.

With the 1848 to the south

It was very early on Sunday morning when two packed coaches set off on the A40 towards Dortmund. The airport in Dortmund was painted in sensible colors and then the charter took off at around 8:45 a.m. It was a relaxed flight that ended in Innsbruck after a good hour. Not yet the finale of the outward journey, after which it was back by coach, this time in the official team vehicle, over the Brenner Pass to South Tyrol. Roy Bianco and the Abbrunzati Boys were playing on the radio as befits the occasion. That’s how angels must travel.

Of course, a training camp like this doesn’t just consist of players and coaches. The entire VfL board, led by Hans-Peter Villis, is in South Tyrol, and managing director Ilja Kaenzig arrived in the afternoon. There are also employees from game operations, assistance, marketing, fan support, press, content, and football school. A company outing of the highest order. But don’t worry, this is by no means a vacation. Not even for the team behind the team.

Back to business. VfL in South Tyrol. Familiar territory, after all, the blue and whites are preparing for the new season in Bruneck, or more precisely in Gais, for the fourth time. The team is once again staying at the Windschar holiday and wellness hotel. Everyone knows and appreciates each other, and many familiar faces greeted the VfL entourage on site. But after lunch and checking in, the fun is over. After all, that’s preparation.

Nice welcome

Gais had dressed up, that’s how we know it. The best conditions, lots of hard-working helpers. And the VfL fans also contributed to a successful opening image. More than 100 supporters were already there at the start, and many more will arrive in the coming days. Our fan support team is expecting around 350 fans to make their way to Gais this week. A great thing that the VfL professionals also appreciate. At the start of the Sunday training session, Toto and Co. first went into the curve and applauded for the support.

Off to the pitch

Head coach Peter Zeidler was the first to enter the pitch. A quick check of the pitch, a greeting for the fans, then full focus on the team. 26 field players and three goalkeepers. Hugo Röllecke, Kacper Koscierski and Alessandro Crimaldi are also there from our U19 team. Only Niclas Thiede stayed in Bochum. In temperatures that were approaching 30 degrees, athletic trainer Klaus Luisser took over the warm-up. At least a little wind blew past now and then. Assistant coaches Murat Ural, Maxime Antonilli and Markus Feldhoff set up the first game format, Sebastian Baumgartner grabbed the goalkeepers. Rehabilitation coach Björn Kadlubowski ran a program off the pitch with Ivan Ordets and Moritz-Broni Kwarteng. There was fire from the start with high intensity in the exercises. The commands of de Wit & Co. echoed from the mountains.

evening programme

Sweaty opening session. A good session. Then came the well-deserved cooling off in the lake next door. Shower, dinner. End of work. It was a long day for Blau-Weiß. We captured it again on video, interested viewers can find it on our channels . There are also a few impressions of our new signing Samuel Bamba. The fast winger was there for a round of “Sach ma schnell!” You can also see it here .

See you tomorrow, guys!
