Wolves signing Nasser Djiga “learning” as potential first team chance looms

Vitor Pereira says deadline day signing Nasser Djiga is “learning” exactly what is required of him in the Wolves defence.

Djiga, who arrived from Red Star Belgrade earlier this month, is still awaiting his debut in England after featuring as an unused substitute in the past two games. 

The Burkina Faso international could have an opportunity to break into the first team frame over the upcoming games after Emmanuel Agbadou suffered a hamstring strain in the 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday.

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira feels dealing with the “pressure” in the Premier League has helped him unlock his best level as a manager.

Pereira has helped turn the tide at Wolves since succeeding Gary O’Neil in the dugout in December, winning three of his first nine league games at the helm to guide his side out of the relegation zone. 

They currently sit two points clear of the bottom three after beating West Midlands rivals Aston Villa 2-0 at Molineux before narrowly losing 2-1 against league leaders Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday. 

Pereira believes the “pressure” of managing in the English top-flight is something he thrives off and he expects that to be replicated by his players too.
