Good News: Fans celebrates as club acquires five new stars.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s reputation for astute transfer strategies has been instrumental in their continued success despite regularly selling key players.
With the departure of head coach Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton needs to bolster their squad strategically to maintain their competitive edge. Here are five players the Seagulls should target in the 2024 summer transfer window to strengthen their team:
1. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Midfielder (Leicester City)
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a dynamic midfielder who could significantly bolster Brighton’s midfield. The Seagulls reportedly bid £30 million for him in January, indicating strong interest. Despite his desire to stay at Leicester City, financial pressures and the club’s need to balance books following promotion might force a sale. Dewsbury-Hall’s ability to control the midfield and contribute both defensively and offensively would make him an invaluable asset for Brighton.
2. Juanlu Sanchez, Right Back (Sevilla)
Brighton urgently needs to address the right-back position due to injuries and inconsistent performances from current options Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey. Juanlu Sanchez, a 20-year-old standout from Sevilla, fits the profile perfectly. His versatility allows him to play as a traditional right back, right wing-back, and right midfielder. With impressive defensive and offensive statistics, including high percentile rankings in tackles, blocks, assists, and take-ons, Sanchez could provide the attacking outlet Brighton currently lacks. His release clause of €20-25 million makes him an affordable and attractive option.
3. Jota Silva, Forward (Vitória de Guimarães)
Jota Silva could provide much-needed depth and versatility in Brighton’s forward line. Despite having options like Danny Welbeck, Evan Ferguson, and Joao Pedro, Brighton requires a reliable goal scorer and additional options due to injury concerns and positional preferences. Silva’s performance in the Primeira Liga, with 11 goals and 6 assists, highlights his potential. His ability to play across the front line makes him an ideal candidate to support or partner with Pedro.
4. Samuel Iling-Junior, Winger (Juventus)
Injuries to key wingers Kaoru Mitoma and Solly March exposed Brighton’s lack of depth on the wings. Samuel Iling-Junior from Juventus could fill this gap. Although he struggled for game time at Juventus, Iling-Junior has the potential to provide quality depth and competition for starting spots on the wings. Brighton reportedly considered him in January, and a summer move for around £12 million could be beneficial for both parties. His arrival would ensure Brighton has reliable backup options to avoid the issues faced this season.
5. Diego Gómez, Defensive Midfielder (Inter Miami)
Brighton has a history of successfully integrating young South American talents, and Diego Gómez could be the next in line. The 21-year-old Paraguayan has been a key player for Inter Miami and is reportedly available for around €6 million. Gómez typically plays as a defensive midfielder, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposition play and support the attack when necessary. While he might not make an immediate impact, Gómez can be gradually introduced to the team, similar to how Carlos Baleba was integrated, providing long-term value for Brighton’s midfield.
By targeting these players, Brighton can address critical positions, improve squad depth, and continue their tradition of smart, strategic transfers that help them thrive in the Premier League.
