Nottingham Forest
further details regarding Gio Reyna’s late-night signing with Nottingham Forest
Florian Plettenberg dropped an update late last night on the situation involving Gio Reyna and Nottingham Forest.
The Sky Sports Germany transfer guru posted the update on X.
So, what has the German said about Reyna and his potential move to Forest? We’ve taken a closer look…
Nottingham Forest want Gio Reyna
Well, it would appear as though this one is moving quickly – with Forest stepping up their efforts to sign new players this month.
According to Florian Plettenberg, a verbal agreement has now been reached between Forest and Reyna over a move to the City Ground.
It would appear that there are some final details for Forest to iron out with Dortmund but the player is now keen on a move to England.
Reyna has wanted to leave Dortmund this month after making just 13 appearances during 2023/24, totalling 336 minutes on the pitch.
Forest are keen to include an option to buy the 21-year-old in their deal and talks with Dortmund will now continue.
Who is Gio Reyna?
Anyone who has ever played Football Manager will know all about Reyna – and the vast potential that he boasts.
Interestingly, the youngster was born in Sunderland, when his dad Claudio, was playing for the Black Cats in the Premier League.
Forest-linked Reyna has been trying to make his way in the professional game with Dortmund and has risen through their academy ranks.
Since stepping up to the senior Dortmund team, Reyna has made 120 appearances, registering 33 goal contributions.
The 21-year-old can operate on either flank – or as a number 10 – and his presence should definitely bring some competition to the Forest squad.
Reyna is also a United States international and from 24 outings for the national team, he’s managed to score seven goals.
Rumour rating: 9/10 – People can say what they like about who is signing the players at Forest but this one looks an exciting one.
Naturally, the cynics will have the pitchforks out as Reyna is a client of Jorge Mendes – who has rekindled his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis.
However, Reyna is a player with lots of potential and furthermore, he’s a youngster with bags of potential and if Forest do eventually get him permanently he’d have significant resale value.
In our opinion, the Reds need more attacking options and if Reyna gets over the line it would be an extremely exciting addition to the ranks.
