Finance Expert: Rangers take advantage to sign off on late transfer deal

Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers have taken advantage of the Brazilian transfer window still being open to sign off on an exit for Jose Cifuentes.

The football finance expert admitted that if the opportunity is right, there is no reason why Rangers shouldn’t do it with good business being conducted at Ibrox.

Cifuentes is set to join Cruzeiro on an initial loan with an option to buy and is set to present himself for a medical in days, with their window open until March 7.

“If you’ve got that opportunity, why not take it,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“You can look at this across this particular example with Rangers and the Brazilian market, you can look at the Saudi market and how the European market works slightly differently to the Premier League and Scottish windows.

If you’ve got that opportunity then why would not take advantage?

Of course, it’s got to be right for all parties, but it opens up an opportunity that is not there for other clubs, so if you can gain a leap that way and if it makes sense, it’s good business to be able to do that if you need to.”

Philippe Clement has been widely praised for his work at Rangers since replacing Michael Beale at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement transfer happy at Ibrox.

After an efficient February window at Ibrox, Philippe Clement spent the majority of his money on Mohamed Diomande, something that no doubt opened the door for Cifuentes to leave.

Given the window slammed shut with no movement in February though, people may have been scratching their heads, but Rangers have taken advantage of other countries to get rid of some dead wood.

Yet again, Rangers are ahead of the rest with their business moves.
