Robert Taylor of Inter Miami was released by Nottingham Forest in 2009, and he is now a teammate of Lionel Messi in the MLS.

Taylor joined Forest when he was just 15 years old. After the 2008–09 season, he only spent one season at the club and was not successful in getting his apprenticeship extended.

He has since traveled the globe in an effort to establish a profession for himself. He has performed admirably and currently plays football for Finland at the international level.

After leaving Lincoln City, Taylor has played for a number of clubs in Norway, Sweden and Finland before finally heading to Inter Miami in February 2022 where he has formed a good on-field relationship with Lionel Messi.

Taylor subbed off in the Open Cup final

Despite being Miami’s second highest-rated player based upon average rating this season, the forward was substituted at halftime against Houston last night.

The favourites were 2-0 before the break, with Taylor one of two players taken off to try and rescue the game.

Unfortunately for Gerardo Martino’s side, they were unable to stage a fightback and despite a late goal, fell to a 2-1 defeat in the Open Cup final.

Taylor, now 28 years old, has four goals and four assists in his 24 MLS games so far this season, with the Finish international looking to add to his tally against New York City FC on Sunday night. Taylor only spent one year in the club’s academy, but ultimately not every player can make the breakthrough on Trentside.
