Indiana Fever provide crucial Caitlin Clark update amid fears WNBA superstar could MISS playoffs

Caitlin Clark will not have to miss any playoff game due to technical fouls accumulated in 2024

After Caitlin Clark picked up her sixth technical foul of the season on Friday, some of the Indiana Fever’s fans were concerned that their point guard may be in line to miss a postseason game.

A seventh technical foul does incur a one-game suspension for any WNBA player, but a team representative confirmed Clark’s total of technical fouls will not be a concern come the playoffs.

A Fever spokesperson confirmed the total of technical fouls a player has received resets at the beginning of the playoffs.

The Fever have two games left in the regular season, against the Dallas Wings on Sunday, and their regular-season final against the Washington Mystics on Thursday.

If Clark commits a technical foul against the Wings, she will miss the game against the Mystics. If she only commits a technical foul against the Mystics, she heads into the postseason without a suspension.

Outside of Phoenix Mercury players, Clark has the most technical fouls in the WNBA.

A trio of the Mercury’s stars, Natasha Cloud, Diana Taurasi, and Kahleah Cooper, have equal or more than Clark, with Cloud being the only player in the league suspended so far this season for technical-foul accumulation.

Clark picked up her sixth technical foul of the season during Indiana’s 78-74 loss to the Aces, where she slapped the stanchion below the rim. That action did cost her $600, the WNBA fine for a sixth-such foul in any season.

With two games left in the season, the Fever are nearly locked into the No 6 seed for the WNBA’s postseason.
