Falcon Players on the PFF’s list of top 25 players.

The Atlanta Falcons have invested heavily in their offense since General Manager Terry Fontenot took over.

They use four consecutive top 10 picks to draft a tight end (Kyle Pitts), wide receiver (Drake London), running back (Bijan Robinson), and quarterback (Michael Penix).

While the approach might seem unconventional or reminiscent of a fantasy football strategy, Fontenot is confident in his method.

Offensive Investments and Their Potential

                        Kyle Pitts (TE)
Drafted: 4th overall in 2021
Early Performance: Surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in his rookie year, almost breaking Mike Ditka’s record for a rookie tight end.
Recent Seasons: Failed to reach 700 receiving yards in the subsequent two seasons.
Current Status: Despite recent underperformance, Pitts remains highly regarded due to his age (23) and potential. With Kirk Cousins as the quarterback and Pitts’ injury behind him, he is expected to have a significant 2024 season.

                          Drake London (WR)
Drafted: 8th overall in 2022
Performance: London has shown flashes of brilliance, though his performance has been hampered by inconsistent quarterback play.
Expectation: With improved quarterback play from Cousins and Zac Robinson, London should have more opportunities to showcase his talent and justify his high draft selection.

                     Bijan Robinson (RB)
Drafted: 8th overall in 2023
2023 Season: Started strong with two 100-yard games in his first four outings but struggled to maintain that pace, not reaching 100 yards in the final 13 games.
Current Status: Ranked 16th in PFF’s top 25 under 25 years old. Robinson’s versatility and potential as an offensive weapon were not fully realized under Arthur Smith, but there is hope that Zac Robinson and a more effective overall offense will help Bijan Robinson meet expectations in 2024.

                   Michael Penix (QB)
Drafted: 2024 (specific draft position not mentioned)
Outlook: As a recent draftee, it may take a couple of seasons to fully assess Penix’s impact. However, his development is crucial for the long-term success of the Falcons’ offensive strategy.

     Supporting Cast and Future Prospects

Kirk Cousins: The veteran quarterback is expected to provide stability and elevate the play of the young offensive stars, allowing them to reach their potential.
Zac Robinson (Offensive Coordinator): His offensive system and play-calling will be critical in maximizing the talents of Pitts, London, and Bijan Robinson.

     Summary

The Falcons have strategically invested in offensive talent with the hope of creating a dynamic and high-powered unit. Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson, both featured in PFF’s top 25 under 25, signify the high ceiling for Atlanta’s offense. With Kirk Cousins providing reliable quarterback play and Zac Robinson’s influence, the Falcons aim to see substantial returns on their investment. This season will be pivotal in determining whether Fontenot’s strategy of drafting high-potential offensive players will translate into on-field success.
