Nottingham Forest are edging very close to a fifth summer signing, with Fabrizio Romano posting on social media this morning.

Marko Stamenic, Eric da Silva Moreira, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Miguel have all checked in at the City Ground so far.

Now, another player is set to check in on Trentside as the club prepares to bolster their squad even further.

Forest are preparing to travel to Spain for a pre-season training camp and Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will play three matches while they’re there.

Now, Romano has tweeted a brilliant update and he’s uttered the three words that fans long to hear regarding a transfer involving their club.

Fabrizio Romano delivers exciting Nikola Milenkovic update

The deal is done and after a few days of speculation, Forest are closing in on the signing of Milenkovic from Fiorentina.

This morning, Romano tweeted his trademark quote and it’s all systems go from a Forest perspective.

e said on X: “Nikola Milenkovic to Nottingham Forest, here we go! Deal in place for £12m and medical booked for Serbian defender. He’s set to leave Fiorentina as reported earlier this week.”

Milenkovic has been with La Viola for seven years, making 264 appearances and helping the club reach two European finals.

Now, he’s going to swap Serie A for the Premier League and at £12 million, Forest look to have done some good business here.

Milenkovic is an international with Serbia and played in all three of their games at the recent Euro 2024 tournament that took place in Germany.

Forest showcase clear change in transfer strategy

This looks like it could be a quality signing for Forest and hopefully, he can hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Although Milenkovic is only 26, he has a wealth of experience and that should benefit Forest going into next season.

Milenkovic is extremely strong in the air and on paper, he looks like an ideal partner for Murillo at the heart of the Forest rearguard.

Who Scored claims that Milenkovic’s two biggest strengths are his aerial prowess and his concentration skills.

Furthermore, they cite his style of play as being someone who is a threat at set pieces and who likes to play long balls.

It would appear that the days of signing players who are expensive and way beyond their best are gone and this signing of Milenkovic looks like very shrewd business for Forest.
