Fabio Silva verdict shared amid £7m Rangers transfer admission
Jamie Murphy does not expect Rangers to sign Wolves striker Fabio Silva on a permanent basis in the summer.
The former Gers winger, who’s also a pundit on Sky Sports and Go Radio, believes that if they have around £7million to spend in the summer, it will not be on Silva.
The 21-year-old moved to Ibrox on loan in January but has struggled to silence his critics in Glasgow.
Murphy told Go Radio, as quoted by Daily Record (2 May): “Will he change his mind if he scores in the next three games and scores winner in the Old Firm game? But no, I think he will probably go back to Wolves.
“He started off well and has a little bit about him but his performances haven’t really been up to standard in previous weeks. I know he has been playing out on the left and it is not his position but I think Rangers will move on from him in the summer.
“If Rangers have got £5,6,7million to spend on a player in the summer, I don’t think they will spend it on Silva.”

Silva’s loan move was met with high expectations due to his promising career at Porto and the significant investment Wolves made in him.
However, his performances at Ibrox have not consistently met these expectations.
Playing out of position can hinder a player’s ability to perform at their best and Silva, who has primarily played as a central striker, might have found it challenging to adapt to a wide role, affecting his overall contribution to the team.
If Rangers have a budget of £5-7million for a key signing, it is unlikely they would allocate a significant portion of that to securing Silva permanently, given his performances and the positional mismatch.
There may be better options in the market that could offer Gers more value for money and a better fit for their tactical setup.
Like any other club, they need to continually assess and adjust their squad to maintain competitiveness and if the 21-year-old does not meet the required standards, it makes sense for the club to consider alternatives who can provide the desired impact in the forward line.
