Everything now arranged for Rangers ace to exit Ibrox on loan-to-buy, wages no issue
Jose Cifuentes is close to leaving Rangers in a loan-to-buy deal with everything arranged for a deal to go through before the deadline, according to reports.
The Ecuador international joined in the summer from LA FC but has failed to settle in Glasgow and is out of Philippe Clement’s plans at Ibrox.
And according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte (30 January) a loan-to-buy move to Cruzeiro is now “considered certain” with Primicias reporting that “everything is arranged” for the transfer to be completed in the coming hours.
Disappointing
There was a lot of hype and excitement around the signing of Cifuentes because his profile of player was exactly what the team had been missing in midfield for years.
An energetic midfielder with bite in his tackle, quality in possession and physical attributes to make him stand out but for some reason it never really worked out for him.
He was hit by a lot of injury problems, Michael Beale was sacked not that long after he joined and Clement just prefers other options to him – including natural defendder Dujon Sterling.
His red card in his only real opportunity won’t have helped and Rangers have been ruthless in moving him on quickly despite a long-term contract and money being spent on him.
It’s best for all parties rather than keeping him at the club just for the sake of it, and hopefully he can impress during his move to Brazil and help the club earn most of if not all the money from his transfer fee back.
