Eight changes, duo to make first start of season – Predicted Rangers XI v Ayr United

Rangers play host to Ayr United in the Scottish League Cup at Ibrox on Saturday, 10 February, and go into the game as overwhelming favourites.

Back off a 2-1 win against Aberdeen, Philippe Clement will be hoping to keep the winning run going and could look to tinker things for this one.

Having played two games in quick succession and another one over the weekend, the Belgian could see this as a chance to play some of his fringe players.

Eight changes in the offing for Rangers

Robby McCrorie has been the second choice to Jack Butland, who’s had an excellent season for Rangers and is also on the radar of Premier League clubs, so he could come in to give the number one some rest.

Connor Goldson has been everpresent at the back for Gers and with Leon Balogun ruled out too, there was a feeling he would start again.

However, Clement’s positive comments on Ben Davies suggest that he could be starting alongside John Souttar for this one.

Ridvan Yilmaz has been the first-choice left-back recently and Borna Barisic could come in place to give the Turkey international rest.

It could be a first start for Mohamed Diamonde and Oscar Cortes – two January signings – with them coming in for John Lundstram and Rabbi Matondo.

Clement revealed that Tom Lawrence is unavailable and Ryan Jack is back so he’s expected to return to the playing eleven as well.

Souttar, Tavernier and Cantwell only players to keep their places in the team

Scott Wright did the pre-game media duties and could be in line for a rare start with Fabio Silva also coming back in to replace Cyriel Dessers.

In other Rangers news, a former Liverpool and Everton midfielder has revealed an offer to secure a permanent move to Ibrox.
