Disappointment As senior Gers player has agreed to leave the club.

Derek Ferguson has dismissed the possibility that Celtic got a psychological advantage out of Rangers having their game with Dundee postponed.

The Gers trip to Dens Park saw the game controversially called off due to a waterlogged pitch on 17 March, meaning Brendan Rodgers’ side went into the international break a point ahead at the top of the table

Rangers will have a game in hand when they contest the 7 April Old Firm derby and Ferguson is confident that there will be nothing gained over at Parkhead from the fixture change now that the winnable Dundee clash has been rescheduled for three days later.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News he said: “That psychological advantage, I don’t get that whatsoever. It is what it is.

“Rangers have got that date, they know it’s going to be 10 April, three days after the Old Firm game. It’s one you’re looking forward to, one where you’re capable of taking three points.

“Dens Park has had a history over the last two or three years, there’s been a lot of games postponed. There’s just certain areas of the park that suffer when there’s a downpour, nothing you can do about it.

“Well, there is something obviously in terms of the drainage has got to be better. But have they got the money?

Rangers go into Old Firm clash with Celtic with a game in hand vs Dundee

At this stage of the campaign all managers would rather have the points on the board than games in hand, but only if they win them.

The Hoops overcame St Johnstone on 16 March and the Gers ultimately didn’t get the chance to answer back the following day.

That has been tipped as a potential “blessing in disguise” due to the injury picture, but since that situation looks to have now got worse again during the internationals Philippe Clement may be faced with a trade off of players coming back and others being ruled out.

It will entirely depend on how things go from now, since a positive result against Celtic and a win at Dens Park at the second attempt would suggest the rest was a positive, but any dropped points in either will make it appear there was in fact a boost to Brendan Rodgers’ men.

As long as Clement is able to keep his players focused and come through the international break without too many more set backs his side will know they are still in a strong position and should go into the derby with confidence.
