Kemar Roofe will exit Rangers at the end of the season when his contract expires, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Gers will not extend the forward’s deal at Ibrox and he “will leave the club”.

As revealed by Football Insider (15 February), Roofe was highly likely to depart after four seasons at Rangers, but their decision is now set.

Manager Philippe Clement is eager to reduce the age of his squad at Ibrox and recruit young but high-potential players in the next transfer window – a major factor in the club’s decision to depart with the 31-year-old.

Roofe has also suffered consistent injuries during his spell at the club and is currently sidelined with an injury he picked up in December.

His frequent setbacks are believed to be another key reason for his exit.

He helped the club to the title in his debut season in 2020-21 under Steven Gerrard having scored 10 league goals.
