This could be awful the 27-year old star looks finally set off to leave the club before the weeks rounds up ,Wehda admits with  the blues.

Birmingham City midfielder Juninho Bacuna looks finally set to leave the club before Friday night’s transfer deadline as reports emerge from Saudi Arabia that Al-Wehda have agreed a fee with Blues which clears the path for the Curaçaoan to depart St Andrew’s. Bacuna is set to sign a two-year deal with Al-Wehda upon arrival.

The 27-year-old has been with Blues since January 2022 when he joined the club from Rangers, where he’d only moved to from Huddersfield Town six months earlier. During his two and a half years at St Andrew’s, Bacuna became an important member of the squad under Lee Bowyer, John Eustace and those who followed into the managerial hot-seat last season.

That theme didn’t continue in pre-season, though, and new boss Chris Davies indicated early on that he expected Bacuna, and Manny Longelo, to leave the club this summer having clearly no role under the new regime. Bacuna came close to joining Sivasspor in Turkey, but despite that move collapsing he is now set for the Saudi Pro League.

“They are still ongoing,” Davies said of deals involving Bacuna and Longelo – who has since joined Cambridge United on loan – recently. “My understanding is that both were close to a move that didn’t materialise. Hopefully in the next two weeks that will be settled and taken care of and they can move on to new challenges.”

Al-Wehda’s transfer window doesn’t close until the beginning of October, but it’s in Blues’ interests to execute that deal as soon as possible in order to boost their funds further if they wish to leave themselves with the option of making another addition to their squad in the final days of the window.

Bacuna made over 100 appearances for Blues in his spell in Birmingham. He scored nine goals and produced six assists – an output which wasn’t bettered by any of his teammates last year and indeed only matched by player of the year Jay Stansfield – in a campaign in which Blues collectively fell short.
