Heart & Hand podcast host David Edgar expressed his delight after Rangers rejected a last-gasp transfer approach from a Premier League club to sign Jack Butland.

Reports emerged from STV News on Tuesday night (30 January) that Nottingham Forest had tabled a bid for the Ibrox goalkeeper which was rejected with Rangers insisting they weren’t willing to entertain any offers before the deadline passes on Thursday.

And Edgar shared on his Heart & Hand podcast X account that the Gers have made an excellent decision in knocking back approaches for the Englishman given his “vital” importance to the club and Phillipe Clement.

He posted: “Good to hear we’ve rejected a bid from an English club (Forest by the sounds of it) for Jack Butland. He is vital to our chances of success this season.

“Pretty sure Rangers have made it clear they are not entertaining offers for Jack.A good old-fashioned ‘hands off’ warning!”

Statement

Unless they’re offering £30m plus then there is absolutely no way on Earth that Rangers would consider selling the former Crystal Palace and Manchester United goalkeeper.

Butland has been absolutely flawless this season and the Gers have made a real statement to interested parties that the 30-year-old is Ibrox to stay for the long haul.

Butland is without a doubt the best signing that Michael Beale made during his tenure and he has stepped into the gloves of Allan McGregor with absolute ease and is quite arguably the best goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership.

The Englishman is not only the first name on the teamsheet for Rangers but he is a crucial component in the dressing room and on the pitch and his experience has immediately catapulted the Gers’ standing under Clement.
