Nottingham Forest will learn the fate of their Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) breaches by April 15.

On January 15, the Premier League confirmed the two-time European Champions had breached the division’s PSR rules. They were charged alongside Everton, who were given a ten-point deduction for separate PSR breaches a matter of weeks earlier which have since been decreased to six points on appeal.

Clubs are allowed to lose £105million over a three season period, amounting to £35m a season. However, Forest were only permitted to lose £61m as they had been playing in the Championship within that time frame. In just under two months time, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will learn what punishment, if any, they will receive.

According to the Telegraph, Forest will begin their defence over the next seven days. They must present their case in front of an independent commission.

Including any appeal, their case is expected to be resolved by April 15. By the end of that period, Forest will have played eight Premier League matches.

Their run of games will include clashes against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as a possible relegation decider against Luton Town. Despite an improvement in results since Santo took over, they are only four points ahead of the 18th placed Hatters.

While Everton have another case to answer, their initial 10-point punishment being reduced to six lifted Sean Dyche’s side from 17th to 15th. Any potential point penalty could dramatically change the relegation battle for Everton and Forest.

However, Santo has already told his players to ignore the background noise and focus on their jobs. When the charges were announced in January, Santo said: “I understand this is the news but at the same time, it is not my concern.

“I have to focus, everyone has to wait for the decision to come and when it comes we have to deal with that. The players know the situation but I’ll tell them exactly what I’m telling to you. Let’s forget about this and focus on our job.”
