Congratulations on your first win for Leeds United, it was a thriller. On the positives, the front four, how pleased are you with that?

Yes, I was in general pleased with our offensive firepower today especially because we played a side who was in the first four competitive games with three clean sheets and just conceded one goal, so it was a difficult place to come here. They played full of confidence and excited home stadium and for us to then dig in and to grind out a result and to score four times is really, really good. Especially also the offensive players on the scoresheet, as so far we had more or less just defensive players Liam Cooper, Luke Ayling and Pascal Struijk in the club. I’m pleased for my offensive players, they showed real quality today also clinical finishes and it’s good for the mood, good for the confidence, good for the table, good for them also to be off the mark in terms of goals because Joel just a few hours more or less with us, Willy and Luis were for obvious reason not involved last week so they’re not in the best rhythm but then to score and to be on the on the score sheet is good. It helps us and I’m happy with this.

You made the bold decision to put Sinisterra and Gnonto in the side today. How pleased are you with their attitudes after what’s been going on?

I wasn’t too concerned about these two decisions, if I’m honest, because I’ve watched them during the training week and they looked really, really sharpened and focused and disciplined and had a good feeling with this decision. What was more a bit tricky was the situation with Joel, because obviously we just signed him pretty late on Thursday evening, just one training session with us yesterday but he looked also really good in training, I also got the feeling he knows the league inside out. He has already started three competitive games over 90 minutes. He’s in good shape. So I got the feeling okay, obviously he can’t know each and every movement of his teammates and each and everything that we want to bring on the pitch but I had a good feeling and wanted to use. Also a bit of momentum but it was a difficult decision and I think he repaid my trust with a goal and really good performance. So the three points is the most important topic so all OK today.

Defensively you had to make some decisions that you wouldn’t have wanted to, Sam Byram’s decision for a start. Your process of thinking from there as you brought on Cody and then took

Well, first of all, it feels a bit like right now we’re in the season and if you think ‘thank God no sucker punch’, comes another sucker punch. Sam has been brilliant so far and this moment there was an injury. He was even last games one of our best performers. It was a bit tricky because we were pretty much aware that always Wes Burns has unbelievable pace and we need a quick player to defend him. For that was then my thought Cody because he’s physically a really good player, good pace and you know that he’s capable. Also he plays in the full-back position on the right side but also I got the feeling he can handle the quality and the pace of Burns.

It was difficult for him to come into such a game to such a hectic game and I won’t blame him at all. Obviously he was involved in the second goal and two or three times Burns was in his back and but it was my decision also to let him play that, so if someone wants to blame someone then definitely not Cody because he’s brilliant. Always was a great attitude. Always with good training intensity, Sadly he missed two or three weeks in pre-season and it wasn’t the easiest way for him to come late into the first competitive game during the season. So if someone is to blame them it’s my decision to blame on the left side and yes, for that it didn’t look that great. It’s more like in the second half I decided to play Jamie Shackleton, preteliable player and also a player who can handle the pace of play like Burns but even for him it was not easy, getting a yellow card. We had to be aware because Ipswich uses pace over the right wing pretty much and thank God in the end we were able to grind out three points.

A few players back today. Looking ahead to Tuesday, you’ve got Salford and then Sheffield Wednesday, will you have more players back for Tuesday?

Yes, we’ll see. So it’s good that we have right now with two days of training because also for Cree Summerville for example he was just an option for emergency case because he missed the last few weeks and still feels a bit of tightness in his adductor. He trained with us first time in team training yesterday. Normally it would have been a bit too early to travel but we thought if we need in last few seconds, a moment of magic. It’s good to have him on the bench at least but thank God, I didn’t need to bring him in because we’re in need and it will be beneficial, perhaps he could also be a topic also for the Tuesday game.

Yes, I’m not sure if any other of the injured players will join us again we are forced to wait a little bit. Probably Sam Byram won’t be available because obviously there’s an adductor strain, I hope it’s not too bad but yeah, we’ll see, so far so good today and then from tomorrow on we concentrate on Salford.

This must be a great dressing room tonight, give us a flavour of what it was like down there after the game?

There’s no replacement for the winning feeling. So it’s always good for the table obviously but also for the mood, for the confidence, for the rhythm. Yeah, we can allow us to be happy because these players also suffered difficult months in the Premier League and last season. They had to wait a pretty long time for the first league win again so for that they should enjoy this but yeah, the league is relentless and I know this league also inside out, you can’t allow yourself to be happy too long. So from tomorrow, we work again, we want to go on to the next one in the cup and also to be ready again when we fight for the next points next weekend. So this league is relentless and we have to keep going.
