Confirmed: Four Rangers players now ruled out
Philippe Clement has issued an update on the Rangers side ahead of the game against Ayr United in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, 10 February.
Gers played host to United at Ibrox and will go into the game as overwhelming favourites.
They will be without the services of Kemar Roofe, Danilo, Leon Balogun and Tom Lawrence who are all injured and not available for selection.
“With a history of injuries we need to be careful with players, there is clear communication with the medical staff and the players.
“Leon (Balogun) went to see a specialist, I expect to see him back next week.
“Unsure if Ross County or the weekend but he will return with a mask.
“Sometimes you need a few sessions to get comfortable in the mask.”
Rangers clear favourites v Ayr United
Rangers enter the fifth-round clash against Ayr United as clear favourites, riding high on a seven-match winning streak and boasting impressive form under Clement.
With their recent triumphs in the League Cup and a strong challenge for the Premiership title, Gers have established themselves as a dominant force in Scottish football.
Additionally, their previous encounters against United have seen them emerge victorious, further strengthening their position.
However, Rangers must guard against complacency and avoid taking their opponents lightly.
Ayr United, despite their recent defeat to Dundee United, cannot be underestimated, especially with the appointment of new manager Scott Brown.
The suspension of Dujon Sterling and the injury absence of others could also pose challenges for Clement’s side.
Moreover, Ayr United may seek to capitalise on any vulnerabilities in the Gers defence and exploit set-piece situations so it’s important to guard against complacency.
