Chris Jack: Rangers to announce new signing in next 48 hours

Rangers will announce the signing of Connor Barron “in the next couple of days”, according to Chris Jack.

The journalist shared on The Rangers Review podcast [20 June] that Rangers successfully saw off competition from Italian and English clubs for the Aberdeen midfielder’s signature.

Barron is now set to become the Gers’ third new signing of the summer transfer window following the captures of Jefte and Clinton Nsiala.

Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande have also joined on permanent deals after arriving on initial loan spells in January.

“Rangers have emerged victorious in that race and have managed to get that signing over the line,” Jack said.

“That will be announced and confirmed in the next couple of days. Barron will be a Rangers player and that’s a really good bit of business.”

Rangers make fast start to summer transfer window

Barron does indeed look to be a smart piece of business from the Gers, who have also added Jefte and Nsiala in the early stages of the window.

An overhaul of sorts was predicted this summer and that is certainly the way it is looking, with Liam Kelly another seemingly close to signing.

You then have to factor in player departures, with James Tavernier continuing to be strongly linked with the Ibrox exit.

The window does not close for another 10 weeks or so, but the more business done early on, the better for everyone involved.

It is then over to Philippe Clement to ensure those players quickly settle in and hit the ground running once the season gets up and running.

Barron will be a small piece in the bigger puzzle, but he is a signing everyone can get behind.
