Lakers Have Reportedly Checked In On Notable Veteran

When the NBA trade deadline rolls around every year, it feels like a ton of league veterans get attention from numerous teams.

Danilo Gallinari, currently of the Detroit Pistons, is one of those players this year.

According to Michael Scotto, via NBACentral, the Los Angeles Lakers have “checked in” on Gallinari, just weeks after he joined the Pistons

The 35-year-old star has been in the league for 13 seasons, playing for teams like the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and others.

This season, he has averaged 7.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, although his career average is 15.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

Gallinari is the sort of experienced athlete who is going to be thought of a lot over the next few days.

He can bring plenty of expertise to a number of teams, plus he can be afforded on a rather inexpensive contract.

But he comes with a downside too: a history of injuries.

The Lakers are a team that is considering a lot of moves right now, and Gallinari is just one of many players who are possibly attached to LA.

They are looking for big-name players, such as Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks, but also lesser-known and reliable role players, like Gallinari, Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O’Neale, and others.

Gallinari would definitely help out the Lakers’ backcourt, especially because he has long been known as a knockdown three-point shooter while also being able to play multiple positions for the team.

There will be other teams focused on Gallinari so if the Lakers are serious about adding him to the roster, they will have to put together an offer quickly before the trade deadline arrives on Thursday.
